Epilogue

All Good Things Must Come To An End...

Well the trip is history…but memories, memories and more memories. I love looking at all the pictures and reliving the experience. It was a wonderful trip and I enjoyed traveling with my sister so much. I thank God for allowing us to have a safe trip.

I have really enjoyed blogging and learning how it works. It helps you remember things that you may otherwise forget on a long trip. Thanks to the friend that encouraged me to do it!

Pat is seven years older than me. She says that she had to take care of me when I was young. She told me that she once told Mama that they did not ask her if she wanted a baby sister. BUT, she is glad she has one now.

Growing up she was my idol. She was pretty and had plenty of friends. I wanted to be just like her. I am sure I was a pain sometimes being the little sister and wanting to follow her everywhere.

It’s funny, but the difference between 20 and 27 is nowhere near the difference between 10 and 17. As adults, we became very close friends and I continued to look up to her. After losing our parents and living our individual lives, our closeness faded but not our love for each other and we spend little time together.

Several years ago, we took a siblings cruise and the same year we took a ladies cruise. We discovered again that we like to travel together and have fun. We have had some great times together and look forward to the next adventure and where it will take us.

Live every day as if it was your last. It may be.

Don’t let opportunities pass you by.

Until the next time. . .

Wednesday -- Heading Back to Carolina

Wednesday morning began with breakfast and finishing packing. I spent a few minutes outside on the patio looking at the scenery. One thing you see very little of out here is grass. Most yards, patios etc are rock with some plants and a few trees. No grass cutting…that sounds nice.

Rose & Larry drove us to the airport. I hated saying goodbye to them. I have enjoyed spending time with both of them. Checking in was uneventful and did not take too long. After going through security, we stopped at Burger King for a sandwich and water to take on the plane with us.

At the Las Vegas Airport...

The plane was not completely full, so we had an empty seat between us. I got a window seat again. I loved it. I spent most of the time looking out the window.

The mountains, rivers, farmlands and clouds were beautiful and awesome. I believe that we flew over the Grand Canyon. I have discovered that I really like flying.

Up in the clouds!!

Landing in Charlotte North Carolina

After retrieving our luggage, we took the shuttle to the parking lot and to our car. We left the airport headed to Pat’s house.

We decided to stop at Lexington BarBQue for dinner. Chopped barbeque, hushpuppies, slaw, and then peach cobbler ala mode was our meal of choice. Delicious!!!!!

We arrived at Sis’s house, unloaded the car and then spent time with her three dogs and her husband. Then it was time for sleep. Pat has to go to work in the morning and I am traveling home.

On Thursday morning, we got up about 7 a.m. I packed my car and headed to Lumberton about 7:45 a.m. The drive home was uneventful and safe.

Can't Wait 'Til The Next Adventure!!!!!!!!

Tuesday -- Death Valley

Tuesday morning started early. Pat & I hit the road northwest to Beatty, NV and then to Death Valley National Park, CA. The drive was enjoyable and beautiful. I am enjoying the time spent with my Sis
very much.

Beautiful Mural

We crossed into California.

That makes four states on this trip!

Travel in Death Valley NP is small two-lane and one-lane roads. You make sure you have plenty of water and gas before entering the park.

Our first stop was Scotty’s Castle in the Park. It was built in the 1920’s and is furnished with the original furniture and antiques. It is gorgeous and very secluded.

Ubhebe Crater

Wind almost blew us away!!

Going lower and lower!!!!

Furnace Creek Vistor Center is located at Death Valley. There is a museum, a post office, restaurant, grocery store and camping and cabins. The only place with food in the Park. We were getting pretty hungry. We had brought plenty of water and snacks with us; but didn't think to bring sandwiches. The restaurant was pricey. At the grocery store, we found prepackaged ham & cheese sandwiches. Boy, it was delicious!!!!!

IT WAS HOT!!!

Temperatures reached 120 degrees
on our ride.

Artists Drive looks like someone took a paint brush and painted beautiful colors on the mountains.

Sand Dunes

Lowest point in the USA

Salt Flats

Magnificent!

Back to Nevada!!

When we arrived back in Las Vegas, we met Rose & Larry at the Village Pub for dinner. A salad followed by a delicious steak, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables was the meal choice. It was very enjoyable and tasty. We were hungry and tired.

Upon arriving back to the house, we started packing. It is hard to believe that this is our last night in Vega$. Time has gone so fast but we crammed a lot into the time we were here.
Tomorrow -- Back to North Carolina
